The first time Carol Sam was introduced to Neketo Ferguson, she gasped. “It was attraction at first sight for me,” she remembers. Despite that, and living miles apart with Neketo in the Bahamas, the two settled into a close friendship for years before it finally grew into more. After a year of dating, Neketo had Carol’s sister hide a ring that he directed her to over one of their marathon Skype sessions. “We started our relationship doing long distance and during our relationship we saved ourselves until marriage,” says Carol.

“Love is special and when distance can’t break the bond, love, friendship and union you have, that is unique.” They took this theme to their wedding planning, calling it “love beyond the borders,” and focused on creating an intimate guest list and ceremony that would pay tribute to their faith and connection. “Walking down the aisle with my dad was very emotional,” says Carol. “And seeing Neketo was breathtaking. That was the second time he took my breath away.” Although the weather didn’t cooperate, it sure didn’t dampen spirits. “It was an amazing experience. It was like a dream, only it was our reality and those we love celebrated it with us.
