Married August 1, 2015
Two years before they were officially introduced, Amanda Assoun and Shannon Huckle locked eyes at a gas station, unable to look away but too nervous to say anything. That moment burned in their memories until a mutual friend finally introduced them after hearing both sides of the same story. The couple began planning their wedding only four months before the big day, but working with a limited time frame didn’t mean sacrificing anything for their day. “We wanted our wedding to tell our story,” says Shannon. “Music is something we share together, so we wanted to share it with all of our guests as well.” Chancing an outdoor ceremony in Point Pleasant Park, giving inscribed guitar picks as wedding favours, a cake decorated with the notes to the couple’s song and a white guitar guestbook—everything was in perfect harmony that bright summer day. “It was simple and it was perfect,” says Shannon. “We were surrounded by so many friends and family. It was overwhelming to be the main focus for the day, and to feel all of the support around us. We wouldn’t change any of it, it just honestly went by too quickly.”
